Kitchens and Bath Projects: Step by Step
The greatest asset we offer you, besides our decades of experience in kitchens and baths, is the time we spend in sharing our expertise with you. We want to be sure you enjoy this time with us, and more importantly, that it’s time well-spent for you – that it gives you the most for your own investment of time.
Here’s how you can expect your new kitchen or bath project to proceed:
Step 1: Your First Appointment.
There are two options:
You can visit our showroom and meet with one of our kitchen and design professionals.
This is how most of our clients begin. To make this meeting most productive,
please bring your kitchen or bath measurements, details on appliances and fixtures,
blueprints, and any other information that may help, such as photos and clippings
of kitchens or baths that you like. There’s no charge for this initial
in-store consultation.
The first meeting can be in your home. We’ll take measurements and discuss design ideas and personal preferences with you. Then we’ll set up a second meeting in our showroom to show you the preliminary designs that result.
Step 2: Preliminary Design and Budgeting.
Based on our initial meeting, we’ll produce a perspective drawing for your review, and estimate a budget for your project.
Step 3: Confirming Measurements and Details.
If you elect to continue with the project, and the job site has not been completely specified, we’ll verify on-site measurements and confirm details to be sure your design is accurate. Appliance specifications are verified to ensure proper size and placement.
Step 4: Design Refinement.
We’ll meet you with you again to review your design, discuss changes, make suggestions, and refine your design. We’ll also help you finalize your choices of color, style, wood, countertops, edge details, etc.
Step 5: Detailed Drawing and Order Summary.
If you choose to proceed with the project, we’ll provide a detailed drawing, including appliance specifications, and a written order summary accounting for costs. A 50% deposit is due at this time, with the balance of your investment due upon delivery of the new kitchen or bath.
Step 6: Referrals.
If needed, we’ll refer you to other suppliers for specific aspects of your project. Referrals may be furnished at any time needed during your project. Or – if you want – you can relax and let Chelsea Lumber manage the next few steps for you. Our Installation Services staff will handle the details, and you can just skip to Step 10!
Step 7: Cabinet Inspection and Delivery.
We’ll inspect your cabinets as we receive them from the manufacturers, and deliver them to you on our own trucks.
Step 8: Questions and Answers.
At any and all times during your project, our kitchen and bath professionals will be available to you – and your contractor (if applicable) – to answer your questions.
Step 9: Service and Support.
We’re never more than a phone call away when you need us to address urgent project issues as they arise.
Step 10: Project Completed!
Enjoy your new kitchen or bath! And rest assured, we’ll stand by our work, and will follow up promptly if you experience any problems after installation.
